It is no longer a secret anymore that movies shot in Africa have a very big impact on the movie scene and they even win Oscars at least based on box office reports.
Forexample Black Hawk Down a 2001 American war drama film directed by Ridley Scott which is an adaptation of the 1999 book of the same name by Mark Bowden, which chronicles the events of the Battle of Mogadishu, a raid integral to the United States’ effort to capture Somali warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid.
The film was received positively by American film critics, but was however strongly criticized by Somalis.
The film won two Oscars for Best Film Editing and Best Sound at the 74th Academy Awards.
Another one, Hotel Rwanda (2004) which is an American drama film directed by Terry George and based on real life events in Rwanda during the spring of 1994, the film stars Don Cheadle as hotelier Paul Rusesabagina, who attempts to rescue his fellow citizens from the ravages of the Rwandan Genocide.
Hotel Rwanda premiered in theaters in limited release in the United States on December 22, 2004 and in wide release on February 4, 2005 grossing $23,530,892 in domestic ticket sales. Becoming a moderate financial success, the film received critical praise before its initial screening in cinemas.
These two are just a tip of an iceberg because other ones include The last King of Scotland, starring James Mc Avoy and Forest Whitaker ,Sheena-Queen of the jungle, Mr.Bones, The air up there, Wild Geese,to mention but a few.
Even Musicians like American Hip hop artist Ludacris(Christopher Bridges) did a song while on a game drive in Kruger National park in South Africa, the name of the song is Pimin’ all over the world –Ludacris Featuring Bobby Valentino which showcased the beauty of nature(in South Africa) and the famous Zulu culture!
So Gorilla Tours and Safaris is in the final stages of launching a package that will cater for the activity of filming and even making videos the national parks and protected areas of Uganda .
For example making a video while dancing near the gorillas in Bwindi National park(Imagine a video while a gorilla dances to hip hop beats tune from Eminem).
